Description
One of the most magical trips you can do while on Phuket, is Hong by Starlight with John Gray’s Sea Canoe. It’s been around since 1989 and consistently scores 5 out of 5 stars on Tripadvisor. Why? Because it’s a tour where magic happens! During the day, you will be exploring caves and so-called ‘Hongs’ by sea canoe. A ‘hong’ is an enclosed body of water, usually surrounded by rock formations. These are perfect for canoeing during high tide. We will also paddle through sea caves. But that’s not all!

After dinner, we float our own Krathongs (floating flowers) during sunset. And on top of it all, the day ends with canoeing through bioluminescent plankton. Itinerary
Our luxury minivan will be ready at the hotel lobby between 11:30-12:30, depending on your location. From here we head to Ao Po pier.
On arrival at the pier, we board our modern double engine escort boat. Here you can enjoy a Thai style lunch. During lunch you will receive a safety instruction.
Our boat makes a stop at the first island (every tour we visit different islands, depending on the tides water conditions). Here we board the kayak. Our experienced guides paddle with us through the caves and into the 'Hongs' (room in Thai).
After canoeing, we head back to the escort boat and move on to the second island.
At the second island, we explore more caves and 'Hongs', while the guides explain about the ecosystem. Keep your eyes out for birds and monkeys!
We make a stop to create our own Krathong, which are floating flowers with candles. You can release them on the water and take a nice cooling down swim afterwards.
When the sun starts to set, it's time for a delicious and healthy Thai buffet. We use as much organic and free-range options as possible. Vegetarian and halal options are available. Enjoy while watching the sunset!
After dinner, we return to the kayak and paddle through bioluminescent plankton. An amazing once in a lifetime experience with glowing lights just below sea level.
We leave back to Ao Po pier for the return trip. This is where the Hong by Starlight tour ends. Our driver with luxury minivan will bring you back to your hotel, where you should arrive no later than 21:30.

Please don't eat lunch. We will serve you both lunch and dinner on board of our support ship, that follows us during the Hong by Starlight tour. For lunch and dinner you can expect a typical Thai style buffet. Every day we shop for healthy ingredients. A seafood catch of the day and free-range chicken. As well as a delicious homemade Massaman curry with brown, red, and black rice.
Hong by Starlight has a 100% safety record since 1989. We only use professional canoeing gear and well-trained guides. This tour runs when it rains, but only when conditions are safe enough to go out. It's a 100% safe trip!
If the weather is bad, we will inform you as soon as possible. You can then choose to reschedule your tour or get a full refund. Your safety is our priority.
You can cancel your booking for free up until 24 hours in advance of the tour start date. That means you need to cancel no later than 23:59, 2 days before the tour date. We’ll refund you the deposit or you can choose to use it as an advance to a different booking or tour.
